a central brooklyn evening (part 1 - brooklyn college)

the other night after registering for classes at brooklyn college, i decided to snap a few pics (okay, about 175) in the area surrounding the school (BC is consistently ranked one of the most beautiful campuses in the nation btw). here are a few of the "on campus pics" - but the images of the ubervictorian "flatbush malls" neighborhood directly to the west are amazing, and will completely blow your image of urban, gritty "brownstone" (i.e. cosby, welcome back kotter) brooklyn. stay tuned!

lincoln center at night

lincoln center never fails to take my breath away - especially at night. 60's modernism at it finest (imho). my luck taking night pics has been spotty at best...but here are a few that came out ok, thanks to some tweaking.

midtown west - hells kitchen

here are a few shots from a walk i took after work last spring from my office around carnegie hall (57th/7th) to the only drive-thru mcdonalds in manhattan (34th/10th).

opening night beacons at top of the rock

I took these photos a while back during the grand opening of the Top of the Rock observation deck in the GE building at Rockefeller Center. The photos don't quite capture how cool it looked in person.

ok ok - i know its not 'officially' in the new york metropolitan area, but it's late, i'm bored and feel the selfish need to post a few pics from my trip to paris last march. sue me :)

lower manhattan

on a cloudy day in the fall of '04 i snapped a few pics in one of my favorite areas of the city. the warren of streets laid out by the dutch and english south of chambers house an incredible variety architecture and streetscapes - monumental and intimate at the same time. admittedly, my obsession with boxy modernist skyscrapers limited the variety of shots - but hey, that was almost 2 years ago - i've progressed thankfully :)
