greenpoint, brooklyn - part 1

williamsburgh is known for a lot of things - being aesthetically pleasing isn't one of them (imho). so imagine my surprise on a recent trip to greenpoint, the polish-latino enclave directly to its north. i was expecting the same boring tenements with asbestos siding, the same lack of trees - but found instead an intact vibrant ethnic neighborhood with loads of charm, authenticity and great architecture. all it needs now is a decent subway line and waterfront access!
